Kleinplanetenbenennung am IOP - offizielle Bestätigung durch IAU

Nachdem die Bahn eines Kleinplaneten (KP), meist erst nach mehreren Jahren, hinreichend genau vermessen wurde, kann der Entdecker der Internationalen Astronomischen Union (IAU) Division III

einen Namensvorschlag unterbreiten. Dieser Vorgang folgt der Nummerierung, bei dem der KP eine feste Nummer z.B. (264131), an Stelle der provisorischen Bezeichnung 2009 UQ4 erhielt.

Der Vorschlag enthält eine kurze Erläuterung der Namenswahl.

Discovered 2009 Oct. 19 by B. Thinius at Inastars Observatory (B15).
Bornim is a district of Potsdam, capital of the German state Brandenburg,
characterized by numerous lakes and rivers surrounded by green landscapes.

It is also a cultural domain of historical Prussia and a science hub with many
traditions. Bornim is home to Inastars where this minor planet was discovered.

Discovered 2009 Oct. 19 by B. Thinius at Inastars Observatory, Potsdam.

Axelschwope            278513 Axel Schwope is a German astronomer.

     Discovered 2008 Feb. 14 by B. Thinius at the Inastars Observatory (B15) in Potsdam-Bornim.
     Axel Schwope (b. 1959) is a German astronomer at the Leibniz Institute
for Astrophysics in Potsdam. His research focuses on compact X-ray emitting
objects. The name was suggested by the discoverer acknowledging the
interaction between a professional and an amateur astronomer.

Discovered 2008 Feb. 14 by B. Thinius at the Inastars Observatory (B15) in Potsdam-Bornim.
